Good Day Missouri Energy Forum,

2010 is shaping up to be a critical year for the debate on energy policy in America and many citizens feel left out of the discussion and powerless to make their voice heard.  It’s my goal as State Chairman for Missouri to arm our citizens with the information they need to become educated on energy policy and create opportunities for them to join the debate and to give them a strong voice in Washington on this critical issue.

Our position is simple, energy drives the American economy.  Our current energy and economic challenges are too great to ignore.  While the American people have demanded a balanced solution including all energy sources, the Administration is proposing new taxes on the oil and natural gas industry.

Those taxes would mean less energy, fewer American jobs, and reduced local, state and federal revenues.   With America in the midst of an economic recession, now is not the time to impose new taxes on the oil and natural gas industry; instead, we should be allowed to develop the vast domestic energy sources that belong to the American people.

As the operator of family construction business, a cattleman, a county commissioner, a local farm bureau board member and an American Citizen, I oppose this administration’s efforts to impose any new taxes on energy.  And I support efforts to increase domestic production of all types of energy and energy sources.

Skyrocketing energy costs translate directly into higher production costs and lower profits.  Regardless of the industry, these are basic economic principles.  We cannot allow these misguided, cost escalating policies to become the law of the land. Thank you for wanting to be part of the solution.   Please join us by signing our petition to oppose higher energy taxes.
